Productivity… I have a love/hate relationship with this word.
We all have “off” days and times that we just want to lay in bed and scroll down Twitter, which is okay occasionally.. but don’t fall into the habit of this!
I wanted to share my top 5 ways to be productive – because lets face it, we all feel better when we go to bed at the end of the day knowing we got shit done!
1. Make a list of “to-do’s” the night before.
It helps to physically write it down, but if you can at least mentally tell yourself that you WILL do these tasks, “I gotta do homework, study, hit the gym, and do laundry tomorrow”, you are WAY more likely to actually get it done.
2. Get enough sleep, please!
I’m suchhh a big sleep lover, I love sleep, I mean who doesn’t? There is such thing as “too much sleep”, which my boyfriend would probably say I have this problem.. Look, make sure you are getting the minimum necessary amount of sleep, I shoot for 7-8 hours each night.
If you don’t get proper sleep, I guarantee you will not be productive the next day.
3. Music, music, music.
This one is my own preference – if you don’t like music too much then ignore this tip, but for me, music is everything. Music helps me workout, calm down, get work done. If you’re one of those people, definitely turn on some motivational music and you’ll be 10x more likely to power through and kickass on your workout or your tasks!
4. Take incremental breaks.
When you do sit down and get to work, make sure you pull yourself away every 45 minutes to an hour maximum, and grab something to eat or just chill out for a bit, BUT BE SURE TO GET BACK TO WORK!
Overworking yourself is never fun, if you just work straight for hours without breaks, you’ll most likely burn out and lose massive motivation to continue being productive.
5. Finally, JUST DO IT.
This sounds cliche but let me explain, this actually has so much significance. Lets say you are dreading this homework you have, and you are sitting on your bed on your phone procrastinating. Put the phone down, open your computer up, open up the homework without thinking, and JUST DO IT. Get started.
The effect here is that once you actually START the tasks, you will be on a roll and continue on to your other tasks!
Little bonus tip; think about how you’ll feel AFTER. You will feel so much better and uplifted if you get your work done versus sitting back and being a lazy potato (no offense).
